Legal Interpreting and Translation

Official interpreter for Merseyside and Cheshire Police since 1984

Jan Cambrige has been an official interpreter for Merseyside and Cheshire Police since 1984, prior to the advent of DPSI and the National Register, and in that capacity has worked in Court and in Police Stations.
Jan also has extensive experience of interpreting in asylum cases for both the Immigration and Nationality Directorate (IND) and the Immigration Appeals Tribunals (IAT). She has worked widely in Magistrates’ Courts, Crown And County Courts, particularly the Family Courts. Jan has been engaged in this work by the courts themselves, and by defence teams preparing a defendant's case.

In 2001 all the Criminal Justice Agencies (CJAs) made in the service-level agreement that they would employ only members of the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI) in order to ensure suitably qualified interpreters were engaged, who had signed a commitment to abide by the NRPSI Code of Conduct and Good Practice, and who were governed by a transparent disciplinary code.
